Hi, I'm Janiqua!
I'd like to think we all have a groundbreaking moment about the first time we saw someone putting on makeup. For me, it was my mom. My entire face lit up watching her apply Mac and Covergirl on a Saturday evening. I was intrigued on how this beautiful woman could appear even more beautiful with the use of makeup (even though she did have a thing for wearing blue or black lipstick... gotta love the 90s). I was so amazed in how her confidence instantly grew and how all of her best features were amplified. Growing up, there were not many women of color displayed on beauty campaigns, so my mom was the Jackie Aina or Alissa Ashley i.e. the beauty influencer of my world. Through Competitive Dance and A LOT ( and I mean a whole lot of trial and error), I not only gained a love and passion, but also a desire to increase my knowledge of makeup and cosmetics. For years, I have spent hours watching others on YouTube, shadowing makeup artist, and doing other people's makeup... becoming somewhat obsessive or a freak about what makeup products were out, what would look good on my friends of different shades (and on me), and the hottest trends. I became a BeatFreak, a person who loves to look Beat for any occasion but on their own beauty terms and standards.  At 26 years young and as a Certified Makeup Artist, I am so excited to share my love of makeup and help you discover your BeatFreak within.
